Poltronova Prato rug designed by Centro Studi Poltronova is part of a series of three rugs inspired by the Farfalla pattern designed by the Archizoom group in 1967. The pattern itself was a result of the group's exploration of the contrasting elements between floral decoration, influenced by the Liberty movement, and the artistic experiments happening within the Pop Art movement during that time. The Cielo rug, along with the Farfalla and Prato rugs, represents a reinterpretation of the main components that comprised the original Farfalla pattern. Each rug in the series offers a unique variation in terms of form. Cielo, specifically, embodies an explosion of primary colors and simple geometric shapes, adorned with decorative motifs typically seen in the works of artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol. These motifs include polka dots, checkerboards, and oblique stripes. The Cielo rug, like the others in the series, is a result of a collaboration between Centro Studi Poltronova per il Design and cc-tapis. This collaboration has brought forth a collection of rugs that merge the aesthetics of the Liberty movement, Pop Art, and the artistic vision of Poltronova, creating visually striking pieces that captivate with their vibrant colors and geometric patterns.
