Poltronova Austostrada Rug

Poltronova Autostrada rug, designed by Lapo Binazzi, is a testament to the visionary design approach of the Florentine designer and former member of the radical collective UFO in the 1960s. Created exclusively for Poltronova, the rug is a re-edition of a design based on a preserved drawing from the archives of the Centro Studi Poltronova for Design. True to its name, the Autostrada rug embodies the concept of a modular roadway with curves and straight sections. It is available in three different color combinations, showcasing Binazzi's creative vision. The rug serves as a unique exploration of the project's dimension, specifically the home. It delves into the theme of survival within an artificial universe, amidst the violence and vulgarity of the times and the uprooting caused by the overwhelming flow of information. The Autostrada rug holds a significant place in the history of design. It was originally produced as a single piece by Poltronova in 1990 for the exhibition "Il Dolce Stil Novo (della casa)" curated by Andrea Branzi at the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi in Florence. By reintroducing this exceptional rug, Lapo Binazzi invites us to contemplate the relationship between design, the home, and our existence within a rapidly evolving world.
