Fiberglass, Polyurethane, Steel, Wood
Vitra Eames Fiberglass chair was designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1950. It's avaiable in several colours with fiberglass shell and different bases. The introduction of this new material, coupled with wood for the base, mark the start of a new generation of chairs that has grown until nowdays, becoming the most requested version of Eames's chair. Fiberglass owes its charm to an irregular surface, which appears almost like a natural material thanks to its clearly visible fibers.
The shell can be mixed with 3 base types. DSR reinforced wire base not stackable, DSX base with four tubular metal legs not stackable, DSW base reinforced with wood and metal wires not stackable.
Charles and Ray developed an extraordinary series of individual bases that could be freely combined with these shells. This combination of revolutionary seat shells and innovative bases has given the family of chairs the iconic features that are still immediately recognizable today. Fiberglass offers the added benefit of pleasant tactile qualities and a perfectly molded shape for optimal comfort.
