Vitra Wire Chair DKW was designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1951. The DKW chair is optionally available with a seat cushion or with a two-piece seat and back cushion covered in fabric or leather. The seat shell of the Wire Chair echoes the form of the Eames Plastic Side Chair. The spot-welded wire shell gives the metal chairs their transparent look, while the wooden base of the DKW lends a warm and casual contrast to the essentially technical appearance of the design. The metal components of DKW have a black powder-coated finish; the four wooden legs come in various shades of maple.
