Cassina Pro Bureau de La Semaine à Paris desk, designed by Le CorbusierCharlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret was part of a collaborative project for the offices of the weekly Parisian magazine La Semaine à Paris. The project involved renowned figures from the Modern Movement, particularly from the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM), which was established in 1929.
The desk's design was adapted from the Table dalle Polie by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, originally presented at the Salon d'Automne in 1929. For the administrator's office, Charlotte Perriand added a metal box on the side to store files and enlarged the cantilevered sheet of glass. Part of the glass was slightly hollowed to hold pens and pencils. Cassina has reissued this desk in collaboration with the Le Corbusier Foundation, Pernette Perriand-Barsac, and the heirs of Pierre Jeanneret.
The reissue was done with great attention to authenticity while addressing the needs of modern offices. The desk retains its thick glass top with a colored structure underneath, as well as the characteristic integrated pencil holder found in the original model. The metal drawer unit inside the desk, which supports part of the tabletop's weight, contains a technical compartment that offers integrated electrification and an easily accessible USB (A+C) socket on the side for convenient connectivity. The wiring is inserted through a low cable entry access point and exits from the external side of the drawer unit. This design allows for the seamless integration of electronic devices and ensures tidy cable management.
