Vitra Lounge Chair & Ottoman was designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1956. The most requested and ready to ship version comes in back and seat made of Rosewood Santos, covered with premium quality black leather. The base is made of polished black steel. Ultimate comfort with the highest quality materials and level of craftsmanship was the main goal of the Eames's brothers. As result, this armchair sets a new standard in terms of weight, elegance and ergonomic comfort.
It is much lighter, elegant and more modern than the conventionally club chair. For those reason the Lounge Chair became one of the most famous designs by Charles and Ray Eames and has attained the status of a classic in the history of modern furniture. The Lounge Chair makes you think of a baseball glove, as Charles and Ray said, in order to smoothly fold you.
It comes with the pouf Ottoman the perfect fit, suitable for hall as well as office or living.
Since the Lounge Chair first went into production, average human height has increased worldwide by nearly 10 cm. In close coordination with the Eames Office, Vitra developed the new larger version so that taller people, too, can enjoy the same exceptional comfort that Charles and Ray Eames intended with their original 1956 design.
