Vitra Plywood Group LCM Lounge Chair

Vitra Plywood Group LCM was designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1945-46. The lounge chair is made of an upper shell in woods with base in tubuar steel. Seat and back fixed to the base with cushioning joints. The lounge chairs are available without padding or in a version with light padding covered in calfskin or leather. Charles and Ray Eames spent many years experimenting with new techniques to produce three-dimensionally modeled plywood seat shells that fit the shapes of the human body. They achieved this goal with the chairs of the Plywood Group, which became part of the great design classics with a look that is still contemporary. They also created various combinations of tops with different bases for the Plywood Group. Thanks to the organic shape of the plywood shells and the slightly flexible backs, these light and compact chairs are extremely comfortable.
