Kazuhide Takahama
Cassina Tulu Lg Chair
51,5 x 51,5 x h. 77 cm.
Fabric, Leather, Steel Chrome
The Cassina Tulu chair, designed by Kazuhide Takayama in 1968, is a symbol of advanced experimentation and avant-garde construction.
Tulu was created as a stackable design chair and is the progenitor of other chairs designed by Takahama. These include the Jano, LJin and Gaja, all part of a research project undertaken by the Japanese architect in the 1960s.
The structure in fact represents one of the first examples in which the process of bending the tube is replaced by a thin metal rod that is bent, induction welded and then chromed.
After joining the Cassina Collection, the Tulu chair was re-engineered and the cover is now removable with either fabric, leather or hide covers.
The seat and backrest have also been reinforced with elastic straps, a wadding cover and zips that allow the cover to be removed.
The seat and backrest can be upholstered in fabric, leather or hide, in the colours of the large Cassina collection.
The frame is available chromed, gold or gunmetal chromed, or matt black or white.
