The Desalto Softer Than Steel bench, designed by Nendo in 2014, has a minimalist design because of the thin aluminum plate where part of the top lifts up, folds down, and gives rise to the seat back.
An out-of-the-box bench that features an unusual curved backrest that also becomes an armrest. The concept of Softer Than Steel is the rigid sheet of metal that acquires lightness, flexibility as if becoming paper or fabric.
In addition to the bench, the collection also consists of chair, side tables and coat rack.
