Ash Painted, Coated Aluminium, Metal, varnished metal, Wood
Everything is simpler than you think and at the same time more complex than you imagine." This quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe clearly shows the point of view of the great Japanese designer Shiro Kuramata. His works reveal simplicity thanks to the asymmetrical shapes, the juxtaposition of different materials and the combination and integration of different cultures and world views, the Orient and the Western, the tradition and the innovation. Progetti Compiuti, the memorable collection of chest of drawers designed in 1977 for Cappellini, doesn’t make an exception. This elegant and modern series, suitable for living areas and office, in its four different versions, combines sinuous lines with squared and geometric shapes, regular and irregular forms at the same time. This collection includes:
-PC/3 SIDE 1 AND PC/6 SIDE 2 (1970), two different kinds of chest of drawers with case in black-stained ash and drawers lacquered in matt white. Both are mounted on castors with brushed steel knobs;
-PC/8 SOLARIS (1977), a chest of drawers in black-stained ash with legs in metal, aluminum color and knobs in black varnished metal. Basic structure is made of high-density wooden and fibre conglomerate panels and massive ash. The base is composed of natural aluminum varnished metal;
-PC_12 – 49, an asymmetrical chest of drawers, composed of black-stained ash with drawers in lacquered matt white. Knobs are in brushed steel.
