Vitra Standard Chair

The Vitra Standard is a chair designed by Jean Prouvè in 1934. Standard is a classic chair of french design expression of a simple concept, set the standard for the modern chair. The rear legs are the most stressed elements of a chair, as they support the upper part of the seated person. Creating the chair Standard, Prouve uses steel tubes for the front leg while the rear legs are made with large hollow sections. The perfect support for the sitting position and weight ripartition which create both strong visual contrast and fine ergonomic solution.

The chair is made of aesthetically pleasing soft colors and wood finishes. The seat and back are made of natural oak, dark oak or walnut in black pigmented finish. The base is made of bent sheet steel and tubular steel wth powder-coated finish.
