Kartell:classic with a twist
Highly technological, functional and high-performing, and also vibrating with energy, light and twinkle: Kartell plastic is becoming increasingly precious, exclusive and sophisticated, with 30 sensational new products designed by Andrea Berton, Carlo Cracco, Ferruccio Laviani, Eugeni Quitllet, Piero Lissoni, Jean-Marie Massaud, Davide Oldani, Ludovica+Roberto Palomba, Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, Tokujiin Yoshioka.
On the occasion of the 2014 Salone del Mobile in Milan, Kartell presented the new collection Precious. The aim, even more than in past years, is to devote attention to the quality and precious nature, glamour and “luxe” of the Kartell plastic materials, which have been presented with new, exclusive and shiny gold, bronze, silver, gunmetal and copper finishings.
The metalization process used by Kartell is at the absolute forefront and of top quality, the result of significant research and investments to attain an impeccable result in terms of aesthetics, touch, strength and durability of the paints used. Some of Kartell’s bestsellers are now being lit up in this new metal finishing, and living a second life: Masters, Componibili, Jelly, Matelassé, Shanghai, Dune, Stone, La Bohème, Fl/Y suspension lamps and Bloom.
“Precious, yes: this year, plastic has finally achieved its rightful status as a precious, rare and technological material”. Said Ferruccio Laviani. And he's right: sparkling like a precious stone, Sparkle, the new creation of the great Tokujin Yoshioka showing his sculptural forms that resemble those of a loner. A real gem!
Apparently classics, bestsellers every Kartell has something that catches your attention, surprise and cheer. Great style sparks that come from a flash of inspiration, a touch of originality: small products and accessories to create a custom style and elegant.
This year the Bourgie lamp celebrates 10 years of success. A lamp with an inimitable style, Bourgie is one of Kartell’s best sellers, skilfully combining classic style, richness and tradition with innovation and irony. The baroque style base is composed of three interconnecting decorated layers, while the large lampshade is made with a pleated effect, to create a myriad play of refl ections when the lamp is turned on.
Thanks to its fl exibility and strong communication value, it can be used on an side-table in the living room, to create atmosphere on your nightstand, as a standing sculpture or for reading. Following the major success of the transparent, black, gold and chrome versions, Kartell is now offering a new “gorgeous garment” that is opaque white on the outside and gold inside. Kartell now offers three new surprising multicolor versions, perfect for those who dare to be original and noncomformist.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the cult Bourgie lamp signed by Ferruccio Laviani Kartell invites the greatest designers in poporne an original interpretation. The result is a series of unique pieces that are at the heart of the Milan exhibition.
